The word is Minnesota Vikings owner Zygi Wilf is being asked to make a hard evaluation of his team, including whether they need a defined general manager going forward and if they need to make changes with assistant coaches.

If teams call the Minnesota Vikings as a reference for Donovan McNabb, expect them to hear he was out of shape and did not prepare like they wanted.

The Vikings tested former Cretin-Derham Hall and Denver Bronco Ryan Harris but injuries prevented them from signing him. He could be an option this offseason.

Former Gopher Jon Leverenz has resigned as head football coach at Bloomington Jefferson.

Former Breck stand-out Regis Eller, the son of the Vikings Carl Eller, was recently in town scouting the Gophers for his employer — the San Diego Chargers.

Tartan’s Eric Crawford has joined De La Salle’s Ben Johnson as official assistants for the University of Northern Iowa men’s basketball team.

“Just seeing young kids develop, seeing kids some in as freshman and think they have all the answers and then kind of breaking them down and helping them grow. Just seeing their development from the time that they start to the time that they finish,” Crawford said.

The Gophers Rodney Williams will have a hard time topping his 360-dunk Saturday but he said he’s thinking about it.

“A lot of kids are saying they want to see something different so I have to get to brainstorming,” Williams said.
