ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Vikings fans decked out in purple and gold are roaming Minnesota’s Capitol but there’s no immediate vote on the $1 billion stadium bill.
A spokeswoman for majority House Republicans says the chamber won’t vote Saturday on the stadium bill. Senate leaders say the earliest they would vote is Sunday.
Gov. Mark Dayton and House Democratic leader Paul Thissen were seeking a Saturday vote. The Legislature’s GOP leaders are hoping to adjourn the session for the year on Monday, which leaves a shrinking window of time to approve or reject the state’s proposed $400 million stadium subsidy.
House GOP spokeswoman Jodi Boyne says a House-Senate conference committee on tax policy will meet instead. Republican leaders say the session’s top priority should be tax relief for Minnesota businesses, not the stadium bill.
