ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Hunting and fishing fees in Minnesota are on the verge of going up.
Minnesota House and Senate lawmakers have agreed to a boost a range of fees to help bolster wildlife resource management. Adult resident fishing fees, for instance, would go from $17 to $22 a season. A youth fishing license would be $5.
Nonresident rates would rise too, and the bill also sets up three-day fishing passes. Hunting fees would go up too but there is wide variation depending on the size of the game animal.
The fee hikes were sought by a coalition of outdoors groups. The House and Senate still need to ratify them before Gov. Mark Dayton weighs in.
The bill would also establish a wolf hunt in Minnesota, subject to a state-set quota.
