MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – An alpine skier from Minnehaha Academy forfeited his state championship last week after admitting to Minnesota State High School League officials that he should’ve been declared ineligible for the meet.
Bjorn Halvorson had originally won the Boys State Alpine Ski Championships, held at Giant’s Ridge in Biwabik on Feb. 15. A current look at the MSHSL’s alpine ski web site now shows Jack Post of Eden Prairie as the state champion with a combined time of 1:09.65. At the bottom of the page, it also shows Halvorson now as disqualified.
League officials said Halvorson forfeited his medal to the MSHSL last week. They would not elaborate on what led up to the forfeiture.
Minnehaha coach Sarah Halvorson and the school’s athletic director have yet to comment on the case.
