BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (WCCO) — Taking the plunge, way up in the air — that’s what 12 couples have decided to do on this Valentine’s Day.
The couples were married on the giant Ferris Wheel at Mall of America on Tuesday. The ceremony was at 8:30 a.m. and each couple sat in a different gondola.
They were picked through a contest, in which they had to submit their engagement story.
Along with the wedding, they each received a two-night stay at the Crown Plaza Bloomington, as well as dinner.
The couple with the best overall engagement story also won a $200 gift card.
In celebration of Valentine’s Day, the Mall of America is offering free Ferris Wheel rides all day.
Editor’s note: Mall of America spokesperson Bridget Jewell said while 12 couples were expected, only five came to tie the knot Tuesday. She said they usually expect one or two no-shows with an event like this.
