ST. PAUL (WCCO) — Gov. Mark Dayton slammed Minnesota Republicans Monday for refusing to participate in a Health Care Task Force because they oppose the new federal health care law.
Under the new law, states are required to set up Health Insurance Exchanges. They are meant to give consumers a smorgasbord — a menu — of affordable health care plans from which to choose.
And if states won’t do it, the federal government will impose the exchange on states.
That’s partly why the Governor was perplexed as he accepted the report of the Health Care Exchange Task Force.
He said Republicans refused to participate on the Task Force because they oppose what they call “Obamacare” and are trying to stop it from getting implemented in Minnesota.
“There isn’t a Democrat or Republican health care. There isn’t a Democrat or Republican sickness. Care and the best quality possible? That’s something we all care about,” Dayton said. “And it’s just a shame they were unwilling to work with us, to ahcieve that goal.”
