ST. PAUL PARK, Minn. (WCCO) — A local church never gave up faith, even when their new addition collapsed.
“I knew he had a bigger picture and a plan for us in all of this,” said Rich Pfeffer with Household of Faith Church in St. Paul Park.
And Pfeffer was right. A second church asked its congregation on Christmas day to step up. More than 30 members did on Monday. Some were even from out of town visiting family.
It shows that sometimes in the darkest of moments, there is light. In this case, it was a group of helping hands.
“We didn’t get enough of the bracing through to stabilize it,” Pfeffer said.
Pfeffer, the pastor at the church, has a vision of helping more than 180 people recovering from drug and alcohol abuse. He also wanted to open a soup kitchen. Those plans were delayed when wind knocked down the addition to Household of Faith Church on Dece. 8.
“I knew he had a bigger picture and a plan for us in all of this and I can see how it has begun to prosper us in different ways,” said John Magee with Light the Way Church.
One of those ways came from another Twin Cities pastor who read about the collapse in a local paper.
“I made a call to pastor rich and said can we help?” Magee said.
During Christmas service, Pastor Magee from Light the Way Church asked his congregation to help.
“If our faith doesn’t teach us anything except than to search for good to do good then it’s no good,” Magee said.
Monday was good. More than 50 people from both churches came together to rebuild.
“We kind of see no limitation, no boundaries in society here. We feel we’re all one on the act of compassion. Compassion takes action and so today we were asked to take action,” Magee said.
Now with each piece going back into place, the strength of this building will become as strong as it’s people.
Household of Faith is still looking for donations to help rebuild its vision. If you would like to help, you can send money or your time to the church at 1090 Chicago Avenue, St. Paul Park, MN 55071.
