Astrophysicist Stephen Hawking says we have to start looking at our future in space. Earth, he says, will not likely be able to support us in the next couple hundred years.
Although the thought seems like one out of a video game (Mass Effect, anyone?), we must remember Carl Sagan’s words: An event that is unlikely in 100 years may be inevitable in 1,000. So although it doesn’t seem like we need to leave any time soon, my children’s children might find that they not only lack jobs but lack a planet with useful resources.
So where would we go?
The Moon, Mars, Jupiter’s moon Europa. Those are some suggestions.
